MEET YOUR DIRECTOR Mr. Galindo graduated from Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad New Mexico in 1985.
He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University (Portales New Mexico) with a Bachelors of Music Education degree
in 1989, and then continued at Eastern for his Masters of Music Degree in 1991. Under the instruction of Dr. Duane
Bowen, Mr. Galindo became an accomplished bassoon performer. During his time at Eastern, Mr. Galindo was a public
performer on the following instruments: Bassoon, Trumpet, Tuba, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone and Baritone Saxophone.
He performed these instruments with the following performing groups: Greyhound Sound Marching Band, Eastern New Mexico
University Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Orchestra. Mr. Galindo taught in Deming, New Mexico between the years of 1991-1995
and played the bassoon as a member of the Mesilla Valley Wind Ensemble (Under the direction of Dr. William Clark)
in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He learned the art of teaching music and the devotion to Music Education from composer
and arranger Al Valverde, Deming N.M. Mr. Galindo is currently a member of the Music Educators Association, New Mexico Chapter
and a bassoon performer and Conductor of the Carlsbad Wind symphony at New Mexico State University-Carlsbad.

Robert R. Galindo (MM91) is the band director at Alta Vista Middle School in Carlsbad. Robert was named
the best teacher in Carlsbad. He will be teaching at Alta Vista middle school and is an assistant at Carlsbad High School.
He also conducts the Carlsbad Wind Symphony at New Mexico State University-Carlsbad. This year is the start of his 17th year
of teaching, with the past 13 years in Carlsbad.
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS
Instruments must go home on: Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays and over any extended holidays. These
days are counted as an assignment and a grade is given. Students should practice 30 minutes on these days on assigned music.
